The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function’s top quality music therapy programs are available through the Schnurmacher Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in White Plains, NY. By partnering with its network affiliate, Schnurmacher is proud to bring one of the nation’s leading music therapy providers to expand its services beyond those already available in Westchester county.

Music therapy services available through Schnurmacher include treatments for strokes, trauma, dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

In addition, the IMNF at Schnurmacher has introduced an Ambulation Program for wheelchair bound patients who have the ability to walk. Some of these patients also have dementia. By using a creative approach to rhythm, an individualized music therapy program is developed to encourage a patient to stand up and walk as therapists sing and play musical instruments. Lyrics from the songs incorporate the patient’s name.
